Power Delivery

Share on:

Power delivery calls for the analysis of power system requirements, design of transmission lines, substations and distribution systems and the control and protection of these systems.

Whether you have a small, unique purpose machine, a major industrial facility or an entire power distribution system, by engaging with GHD, you’ll benefit from our full cycle services. Our knowledge includes the planning and engineering of overhead and underground high voltage transmission, and major substations up to 500kV.

Power utilisation systems cover:

  • Industrial power and distribution, MV and HV drives
  • DC networks for traction power
  • Power system communications (including fibre optic)
  • SCADA
  • Security systems (including internal/external perimeter detection, CCTV surveillance and video motion detection)
  • Energy management
  • Substation and Line engineering
  • Network configuration and design
  • Protection and control

Services

  • Survey
  • Environmental assessment
  • Feasibility studies
  • Investigations and audits
  • Engineering design
  • Project management
  • EPCM services

External Technical Assurance – Health Index & Load Index Audit, UK Power Audits

image

UK Power Networks engaged GHD to perform an external technical audit of its regulatory submissions for the Health Index (HI) and the Load Index (LI). These two key performance indicators are used by the country’s regulator to confirm that asset management practices are delivering the required outputs.

UK Power Networks is one of the country’s largest electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNO), responsible for the distribution of electricity for London, South-East England and East Anglia. The HI relates to the condition of the distribution assets and includes the application of the Common Network Asset Indices Methodology (CNAIM); while the LI relates to the substation loading.

Electricity demand in the Northern Bowen Basin region is forecast to grow strongly over the next five years. This growth is being driven by development in the resource and industrial sectors, together with associated population growth.  To reliably meet this growing electricity demand and support the region’s development, Powerlink Queensland is proposing to reinforce the existing network in the area by constructing two new substations - one at Moorvale South and the other at Peak Downs North - and new transmission lines between Nebo, Moorvale South, Ergon Energy's proposed Broadlea Substation, and Peak Downs North.

GHD was appointed by Powerlink to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for the project.
