Plant Engineering is the function responsible for planning, designing, specifying, installing, modifying and maintaining plant facilities, systems and equipment.

Our Plant Engineering team incorporates engineers experienced in the design and maintenance of industrial processing plants.

Our primary customer groups are those who are in the business of processing, refining, handling, manufacturing or treating petrochemicals, gases, water, waste, bulk materials, minerals, food products or manufactured products for use in other processes or for sale to others.

Hydrochloric Acid Synthesis Unit Design

We provided a major chemical manufacturing client with a front-end engineering design package for a new hydrochloric acid synthesis unit for a plant in Niagara Falls, New York. We initiated detailed design activities in January 2013 and continued with a team of up to 20 engineers and design professionals working on the project through November 2014. More than 27,000 person-hours were expended on the project.

Stoke Bardolph WwTW Biogas Plant

The Stoke Bardolph project involved the construction of a 2-MW Energy Crop Digestion and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant on land adjacent to Stoke Bardolph Sewage Works in Nottingham. The purpose of the project was to provide power generation from bio solids which are used as an agro fertilizer to grow maize.

The plant comprises 10,000m2 of silage clamps, milling and fermentation followed by digestion with the biogas being used to power the CHP plant. Power generated is used to supply the adjoining Sewage Works, with any surplus being fed into the National Grid network. Stoke Bardolph is the first large-scale CHP plant in the UK to be powered from maize energy crops.

Malcolm has over 19 years of materials handling system design, layout and working with clients on existing plant upgrades. He has managed large and small projects including multi-disciplinary projects within the materials handling field from concept, feasibility and detailed design through to construction and commissioning.

Malcolm has a strong background in conveyor design including static and dynamic analysis of large capacity conveyors and horizontal curved designs for the coal mining, energy and minerals and processing sectors. Malcolm’s previous roles include that of lead mechanical engineer on various coal and minerals infrastructure projects.

Shane has a client-focused approach to project management and design development.
