Humanitarian and Emergency Response | In the aftermath of natural disasters, affected communities rely on the timely support of aid agencies and NGO to coordinate and deliver the replacement of shelter and essential services. |
GHD has undertaken a number of emergency response activities on behalf of several of these agencies and NGO’s over the last 10 years. Commencing with the Aitape tsunami in PNG this now includes our more recent experience following the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004 and has extended to include assisting vulnerable communities to better plan to survive future disasters. Recent activities include:
Aceh Emergency Response: Construction Management, Indonesia (APERCM)
Post Tsunami Assessment of School Infrastructure, Maldives (maldives)
Post Tsunami Emergency Support, Sri Lanka (WVSL)
Outer Islands Infrastructure Emergency Response Planning, Cook Islands
