Dams
GHD has been an active services provider in dam engineering for over 76 years.
We have investigated, designed or supervised the construction of more dams in Australia than any other Australian firm of consulting engineers. The size of these dams varies from small dams designed for local community towns to large, significant water supply dams for large city water supply or industrial use.
Since 1930, the company has been responsible for the investigation and design of over 75 large dams. Of these, 62 have been constructed under our project management services. Since 1984, we conducted over 110 dam investigations and designs, including 45 detailed designs leading to the construction of 37 large dams.
The majority of GHD's work on dams has been in the last 20 years. Our capabilities are in-house and state-of-the-art. Ten of our senior dams engineers collectively have over 240 years of experience in dams around the world. Our firm actively supports ANCOLD, and our engineers have presented many technical papers to ANCOLD and ICOLD.
